Just a few days ago, the PBE server was updated to version 12.11 with many notable major changes, including the official launch of Season 7 of Teamfight Tactics. With the introduction of many new mechanics and interesting traits, numerous gamers worldwide flocked to the PBE server to test out Season 7, causing it to overload. However, after several days of experience and testing various team compositions, the Dragon mechanic of Season 7 has received a lot of negative feedback.

If you didn’t know, the Dragon is a special trait of Season 7 where these units occupy 2 slots in the team but count as 3 trait bonuses and have a lot of health. Moreover, their purchase cost is double that of similar units, with 4 units at 8 gold and 3 champions at 10 gold. Despite having many special powers, the Dragon is considered a design mistake by Riot. As a result, even from the testing phase, Dragons appear very rarely and are overshadowed by reroll compositions.

If you didn’t know, the chance of rolling Dragons in Season 7 is counted together with the odds of rolling 4 gold and 5 gold champions. Meanwhile, each Dragon champion is designed to fit only a specific team composition and lacks high versatility. As a result, when you reroll to complete your team composition at level 8 or 9, players will have to skip many Dragon champions without being able to find the units they need. Consequently, you will have to spend much more gold to build a team compared to previous seasons.
This leads to a rather negative situation on the PBE server where players switch to reroll compositions very early instead of exploring 4-5 gold units like in previous seasons. If you get the chance to experience Season 7, don’t be surprised if reroll compositions featuring Olaf, Yone, Lee Sin, Ryze… dominate the matches here. This playstyle proves to be much safer than betting on the very low odds of the Dragon units.

Hopefully, Riot Games will quickly find a way to adjust the Dragon mechanic to ensure these units are both interesting and do not negatively affect players’ rolling process. Otherwise, the reroll trend will continue in the near future, possibly even until Season 7 officially launches.
