The 2020 LCK Spring Finals was a disappointment in terms of professionalism, as it did not unfold as dramatically and excitingly as neutral spectators had hoped; the main event was merely T1’s ruthless destruction of their long-time rival Gen.G.
Even before the match began, T1 became the center of attention when the tournament organizers imposed a penalty, stripping them of 2 ban picks for arriving 30 minutes late to the venue. Chairman Joe Marsh later shared that the reason for their late arrival was due to a misunderstanding from the organizers.
However, the penalty was still enforced, and T1 fans had every reason to be upset about this situation. Nevertheless, that frustration quickly gave way to joy as Faker and his teammates easily crushed Gen.G in Game 1.

Not only did they allow Gen.G to take 2 banned champions in Game 1, but during this match, T1 players also showcased numerous peculiar plays. First and foremost was Faker’s “new meta shaping” play.
He went back to the fountain and casually bought… two Wooden Hammers, leaving both commentators and viewers dumbfounded. In fact, the gaming community immediately started discussing and analyzing the item purchase of the Demon King, declaring it a new meta that Faker had just created.
However, he quickly realized his mistake and swapped the items for a Pickaxe, causing the gaming community to burst into laughter. It’s rare to see Faker make mistakes in important matches, but when he does, they are certainly memorable blunders.

Next was the moment when Canna chased after Ruler and ended up getting kited to death by Gen.G’s AD carry at the 30-minute mark.
This was a situation where T1 had just won a team fight, completely shattering Gen.G’s formation, and Ruler could only run for his life. However, perhaps due to his eagerness, Canna underestimated Ruler’s damage output, leading to his unfortunate demise.

To be fair, T1 had an excellent match, and the key to their victory over Gen.G was the superior performance of their jungler Cuzz, along with a draft/pick strategy that was completely outclassed compared to their opponents.
So, when the outcome of the match was clear right from the start, the “unbearable” situations from the T1 players only added to the drama and kept viewers engaged.
Even after securing the championship trophy, T1 members continued to entertain, as they engaged in a “photo session with fans,” despite the fact that there were actually no real spectators present at the LoL Park stands at that time.
