Since the launch of Teamfight Tactics season 6, Jhin has always been regarded as one of the most stable carry champions. With high damage output in the late game, supported by a lineup of champions that provide healing and shields, the Jhin – Guardian – Sorcerer composition has an extremely high chance of making it into the top 4. It’s not an exaggeration to say that if you want to climb ranks safely, Jhin is the carry you should aim for.

However, for Challenger players, the value of Jhin is not as high. According to insights from T1’s “super player” Bebe872, Jhin is a safe champion that helps you get into the top 4, but it’s hard to achieve top 1. That’s because this composition cannot defeat the top meta team-comps and simply allows you to be eliminated more slowly compared to other players.

T1 Bebe872: “Jhin cannot defeat the current meta team compositions. I think this composition will lose 100% when facing Assassins, Innovators, or sometimes even Alchemists. Don’t get me wrong, this is still a good composition to secure a top 4 and gain rank points because it helps you lose health more slowly than other players. However, Jhin rarely helps you achieve top 1, so don’t play this unit if your highest goal is victory.”
“Additionally, you should not switch to playing Jhin if you’re on a losing streak. As I mentioned, this composition struggles to defeat meta team-comps, and if you lose too much health from a losing streak, you will definitely be eliminated early while playing Jhin.”

So what is the problem that makes it very difficult for Jhin to secure top 1? The answer lies with the champion itself, as Jhin is limited to a certain attack speed. Therefore, the number of basic attacks Jhin can deliver over a period is restricted to a certain number and cannot produce a spike in damage. The consequence is that Jhin is easily countered by strong tank champions when players cannot quickly eliminate their opponents.

Of course, in reality, securing top 1 with a Jhin-centered composition is not entirely impossible as Bebe872 describes. However, to create a breakthrough power threshold with Jhin, you must be willing to sacrifice Sorcerer units to achieve 4 or 6 Marksmen (with the appropriate augment or core). Alternatively, you could try to upgrade Jhin to 3 stars, but both methods are very difficult to implement, so achieving top 1 with this unit is quite challenging.

Naturally, as Bebe872 shared above, Jhin – Guardian is not a bad composition as it still secures you a position in the top 4. However, if you are on a losing streak or aiming for top 1, you should not choose this composition. Instead, compositions with greater potential for power spikes like Assassins, Innovators, or Emperors… are much better options.
