BLG at Risk of Becoming the “Worst Seed 1 in LPL History”
At this year’s Worlds, BLG continues to participate as the number 1 seed from the LPL region after winning the domestic championship. Moreover, with a roster of 6 players operating quite well, plus a core team of 5 Chinese players, BLG remains the biggest hope for the League of Legends scene in the Chinese market. However, so far, BLG has shown disappointing performances. They are at risk of becoming the “worst seed 1 in LPL history.”

Specifically, since the LPL began sending representatives to the Worlds in 2011, no number 1 seed from this region has ever been eliminated before reaching the knockout stage, especially since the format of the Worlds has been refined and the number of participating teams has reached the current standard. Additionally, no number 1 seed from the LPL has lost by the second match against teams outside the LCK in the same tournament.

At Worlds 2025, BLG has done what no number 1 seed has ever achieved. In fact, if BLG falls into the 2-2 bracket and “accidentally” faces T1, getting eliminated by T1 would truly bring “tragedy” to the 2024 Worlds runner-up. Because TES, who was eliminated in the 2022 Worlds, was only the number 2 seed, and their loss to GAM is still controversial even to this day. Meanwhile, BLG has lost convincingly to both 100 Thieves and G2.

BLG is on the brink of the “abyss” but may not be able to save themselves
With G2 advancing to the knockout stage, the remaining opponents in the 1-2 or 2-1 brackets that BLG could potentially face exclude only 100 Thieves. However, with 100 Thieves set to meet T1 (and their chances of winning are very low), any of the teams like Gen.G/TES, T1, or FLY could leave BLG in despair.
The only “soft” opponent left in this bracket is TSW/MKOI. However, given that BLG has already lost to both G2 and 100 Thieves quite pathetically, facing MKOI may not present a favorable scenario for the LPL representative.
