T1 just had what can be described as the “worst opening” in history, as they suffered a loss in the very first match of the new season. Nevertheless, the opinions of experts regarding this team’s potential dominance in the LCK tournament remain largely unchanged.
Why is the loss to DragonX considered T1’s “worst in history”? Because this is the first time since T1 – SKT’s inception that this team has faced defeat on their opening day. Even during the disastrous 2018 season, T1 still remained “undefeated” in their first matches in both spring and summer.

However, at this point, no one dares to use a single loss as evidence of T1’s “decline”, especially after the miraculous LCK Summer 2019, when Faker and his teammates surged from 9th place in the group stage straight to the championship in just half a season.
Before the start of LCK Summer 2020, Riot Games Korea had an interesting statistic that if T1 continued to win this tournament, they would set a record of four consecutive LCK championships. The current record is three consecutive championships held by T1 – SKT, achieved in two periods: Spring 2015 – Summer 2015 – Spring 2016, and the ongoing period, which is Spring 2019 – Summer 2019 – Spring 2020.

It is still too early to assert that T1 is sure to win the LCK Summer 2020 title, but with their current roster, there’s no doubt they will remain the number one contender for the championship.
