In LCK Summer 2022, while Faker and his teammates seemed poised to maintain their undefeated streak from the previous Spring, a surprise occurred. T1 was defeated by Kwangdong Freecs – a true shock for the LCK community in particular and the League of Legends scene in general. No one dared to think that a team struggling with poor performances could defeat the “undefeated legion” of the LCK – T1.

However, aside from the loss to KDF, some issues with T1 have been exposed and fully exploited by their opponents since MSI 2022. The most significant of these, the main cause leading to T1’s defeat against Royal Never Give Up (at MSI 2022) and KDF (at LCK Summer 2022), lies in their drafting phase. In both losses, T1 revealed weaknesses in their lineup choices, allowing opponents to take full advantage.

This could very well be a weakness that Gen.G Esports can exploit to secure victory over T1 in the upcoming Super Classic of LCK Summer 2022. It’s important to note that Gen.G is a team that frequently employs very “unusual” yet effective draft picks. A prime example is Support Lehends with the champion Singed, which left DWG KIA reeling.

For this reason, commentators from both Korean and English LCK channels have lost faith in T1. According to a recent survey, all 8 commentators from these two broadcasting channels chose Gen.G as the winning team in the showdown against T1 in the Super Classic on July 8 (Vietnam time).
Thus, it can be seen that the defeat against KDF has gradually eroded T1’s credibility in the eyes of experts. Even though Faker and his teammates managed to secure a victory against DRX afterward, Gen.G presents a completely different case. Chovy and his teammates are currently the only team still undefeated in LCK Summer 2022 and are in high form. Whether the commentators’ predictions will be correct remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure: T1 will face significant challenges in the upcoming Super Classic.
