On May 14, the Vietnam team for FIFA Online 4 officially kicked off. With FFO4 being included for the first time as a medal event at the SEA Games, and especially competing on home soil, Maestro and his teammates set their sights on the highest goal – the gold medal. Of course, their main rival is Thailand with star player JubJub.
The opening stage of the FFO4 event at SEA Games 31 was also incredibly grand. With meticulously invested visuals, the competition stage was quite impressive and fully deserving to be the playground for the largest esports tournament in Southeast Asia.

Furthermore, for the first time participating in SEA Games 31, FIFA Online 4 was broadcast on the official YouTube channel of the Vietnam National Television – VTV Sports.
Vietnam easily leads Group A
Vietnam is the highest-rated team in Group A. In fact, the home team players have demonstrated their determination. Although Trần “Mesut” Minh Quang lost in his first match, his two teammates Lê “Leehariii” Huy Hải and Nguyễn “Maestro” Hoàng Hiệp had no difficulty in destroying two players from Malaysia afterwards to secure Vietnam’s first victory.

In the match against the Philippines, both Maestro and Nguyễn Lê “Cold” Thanh Tòng continued to secure easy victories. And although Mesut faced some difficulties, he also achieved an overall victory. With two wins, Vietnam smoothly topped Group A.

Thailand dominates Group B
While Vietnam faced some challenges in Group A against the tough opponent Malaysia, Thailand can be considered superior compared to the overall level in their group. Therefore, it is not surprising that this team easily led the group. However, in the final match against Indonesia, the Thai players, except for JubJub, did not show significant superiority. Nevertheless, they all achieved victories thanks to their composure and a bit of luck.

Aiming for the gold medal on the decisive competition day
The first match of the finals will take place on May 15, featuring a showdown between Vietnam and Thailand – the top teams from Groups A and B. Based on their performances, the Vietnamese players must be extremely cautious against Thailand, especially against superstar JubJub. However, there is good reason to believe that Vietnam can create an upset, especially as they will be competing on home soil with enthusiastic support from the audience.
As for Thailand, they will likely strive to secure a win to avoid potentially playing up to three matches – which would exhaust them and risk revealing their strategies. Therefore, it can be said that the opening match of the finals between Vietnam and Thailand will be highly anticipated, and fans are eager to see which team truly excels in the race for the gold medal at this SEA Games.
Additionally, we cannot overlook the two challenging names Malaysia and Singapore. These two teams are also quite strong and could very well play the role of “spoilers” in this gold medal race.
