Incident of Vietnamese Player – Yby1 at TFT Season 12
September 22 was the final match day of the TFT Season 12 – Tactical Cup II in the APAC region. This tournament is critically important as the champion will earn a direct ticket to the qualifiers for the TFT World Championship Season 12. Given the significance, the participating players surely focused intensely, carefully selecting strategies, team compositions, and unit placements on the field.

In the decisive match, the Vietnamese player – Yby1 was in a very advantageous position, maintaining good health and having an additional unit on the field from the Tactical Cloak item. All these factors were in Yby1’s favor to win as he had activated the Gold Task Core (which gives the player 1 champion worth 5 gold 2 stars along with 2 suitable items when having 175 gold). Successfully activating this upgrade would give Yby1 immense power to aim for victory and compete for a ticket to the TFT World Championship Season 12 qualifiers.

However, an incident occurred when he chose to upgrade the Unexpected Forge, which changed all his current items to Creative items. Despite this, Yby1 did not expect that this upgrade would also change the Tactical Cloak and cause him to lose a lot of advantages. As a result, he lost a significant amount of health afterward and ended up in 6th place in this match, finishing 8th overall.

Vietnamese Gaming Community Outraged, Demands Riot Change After Incident at TFT Season 12
Explaining the above incident, gamers discovered that in the description of the Unexpected Forge core, it only stated that it does not change the Tactical Crown item (crafted from 2 Golden Shovels). Therefore, the Tactical Cloak (crafted from a Pan and a Golden Shovel) was not among the items excluded from this upgrade. However, in essence, both the Tactical Crown and the Tactical Cloak hold equal importance. Thus, the fact that the Unexpected Forge core changed the Tactical Cloak but left the Tactical Crown “unscathed” is unreasonable.

Right after Yby1’s incident, the Vietnamese gaming community expressed considerable outrage towards Riot. Many players believe that Riot should have adjusted the Unexpected Forge core since the release of the Golden Pan (patch 14.18 of TFT Season 12). This would have helped players avoid misunderstandings and unnecessary losses due to such a mistake.

It is hoped that the incident of Vietnamese player – Yby1 will help Riot Games recognize the issue with the Unexpected Forge core and make appropriate adjustments. It would be unreasonable for Tactical items with the same effects to interact differently with Technology Cores. Furthermore, Riot Games should review its Technology Core system to make comprehensive adjustments concerning the Tactical items in TFT Season 12 in the near future.
