Riot Unveils New Yasuo Skin, Crafted by a Vietnamese Artist
On the evening of September 23rd (Vietnam time), Riot released a series of clips introducing a new skin line to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the League of Legends community. The most notable among them is the new Yasuo skin named Genesis Nightbringer Yasuo. This will be the latest Mythic skin for the beloved champion in League of Legends. What makes it even more special is that the design for the Genesis Nightbringer Yasuo skin comes from a Vietnamese artist who is well-known in the VCS community – artist Huyy Nguyen.

Artist Huyy Nguyen, though still quite young, has gained significant recognition in both the domestic and international League of Legends communities. Many of his works have been used to design skins for various champions, such as Honey Ziggs and Frost Moon Kayn. The skins designed by Huyy Nguyen often carry a mystical vibe, creating a certain “coolness,” especially when paired with champions like Kayn, Shen, or Sejuani, Cho’Gath. As a result, these skins have also garnered a lot of love from the League of Legends community.

New Yasuo Skin Faces Controversy
However, the Genesis Nightbringer Yasuo skin has faced intense controversy from the League of Legends community. Firstly, the previous Yasuo skin was regarded as one of the most beautiful skins for this champion as well as in the League of Legends universe. The previous impression was so strong, and the skin line had been out long enough that when Riot decided to create what could be termed an “upgrade” from this skin, it prompted the community to scrutinize and compare.

Moreover, based on the clip, the new Yasuo skin does not evoke the mystical, dark feeling like the old version, which could be a significant drawback. Some viewers even remarked that the Genesis Nightbringer Yasuo skin is essentially no different from a community skin mod or a rehash of the old Nightbringer line with almost no innovation. Not to mention, the splash art of the skin shows Yasuo in a pose almost identical to Frost Moon Kayn’s from before.

The situation continues to spark debate within the League of Legends community, especially in Vietnam.
