Recently, a Teamfight Tactics player known as Christopho impressed gamers by climbing to Challenger after just 57 games. In his latest guide, Christopho shared some extremely interesting and easy-to-apply tips to help players rank up more effectively, no matter how bad their start is. Let’s find out what those tips are!

According to Christopho, players need to understand the concept of “tempo” to make reroll decisions during the match. Essentially, the more players upgrade their teams in the mid-game, the faster the game’s tempo becomes. If you don’t find a way to level up your units, you’ll lose a lot of health and might be eliminated early. Therefore, if you see your opponents upgrading their teams, be sure to roll so you don’t fall behind in health.

Additionally, Christopho mentioned that the standalone items in Season 5.5 are extremely versatile and can be crafted into many useful items. However, there were many matches where he found himself in a tough spot after finishing the first 3 rounds of monsters with only 1 item. In fact, there were games where Christopho had to start with Neeko’s Help, and his planning with such poor starts helped him successfully reach Challenger.

For the two most common cases of starting with 2 and 3 standalone items, you should buy experience early in rounds 1-3 to increase the chances of getting 2-cost champions in round 2-1. This will enhance your chances of upgrading the units in your team and potentially earn a decent win streak early in the game. Having key 2-cost units like Kennen, Irelia, Brand, Tristana… will also make it easier to determine your team composition and playstyle.

Next, if you start poorly with only 1 standalone item, you must make the most of the gold you have. Typically, when a player only receives 1 item after 3 rounds of monsters, they will have a lot of gold. Christopho advises that after buying experience early in rounds 1-3, continue buying experience in round 2-1 afterward. This will help players level up to 5 early and increase the chances of purchasing key 3-cost champions like Riven, Yasuo, Nocturne… to secure victories in the mid-game.

In the worst-case scenario of starting with Neeko’s Help, the strategy is similar to when you have only 1 standalone item. However, the downside of this starting method is that you will be at a significant item disadvantage compared to your opponents in the mid-game, making it easy to lose health. Christopho’s advice is to stop buying experience once you reach level 7 and then roll continuously to acquire many strong 3-cost carries or a pair of powerful 4-cost champions. Once you find them, use Neeko’s Help to upgrade that unit to 3 stars (for 3-cost champions) or 2 stars (for 4-cost champions).

If you have 2-star Aphelios during the reroll phase, this unit will help you maintain a lot of health with its high damage output

Hopefully, with these experiences shared by Christopho, players will make the most accurate decisions in each match to climb the ranks quickly and effectively.
