TheShy Apologizes and Announces Return to Korea, Fans Worry About Potential Split from LPL

The latest moves from TheShy have left Invictus Gaming fans feeling anxious.

It can be said that 2021 has truly been a very tough year for Invictus Gaming as they finished 9th in the Spring Split and in the Summer Split, the former World Championship champion even failed to secure a playoff spot and bid farewell to the World Championship taking place right in their home country of China. Not to mention, the two pillars of the team, Rookie and TheShy, have hinted at potentially retiring after this season.

Recently, IG fans are even more worried that the day they have to say goodbye to the talented duo from the 2018 World Championship winning generation is getting closer. Specifically, in the latest video posted on his personal YouTube channel, TheShy titled the video “I’m very sorry…” but the message he delivered in the video description is what caught the League of Legends community’s attention.

“Hello.

I am very sorry to the fans for this poor result.

Thank you all for always supporting us.

I will return to Korea (maybe) in September.

Take care until then. Thank you all.”

TheShy’s announcement at this stage has really left IG fans in general and TheShy fans in particular feeling disappointed, even though he had hinted at this for a long time. Although in his message, TheShy did not clarify whether he is returning permanently or simply taking a break after a stressful season and spending time with family like every year, many people fear that Summer 2021 might be the last time they see TheShy in the white jersey.

At this moment, TheShy is only 21 and will turn 22 soon, so he still has plenty of time to continue competing in the high-stakes League of Legends environment. However, after achieving so many titles in the LPL, it is likely that TheShy will want to retire early or seek glory back home – where many teams are still eager to recruit TheShy when he is ready.

Regardless of what choices the IG top laner makes in the future, TheShy’s contributions to League of Legends, to the LPL, and to IG will always be remembered in the history of this Esports discipline. Fans of League of Legends in general and IG in particular hope that he and his close teammate Rookie will once again rise to the pinnacle of glory at the World Championship, but in any case, TheShy’s career thus far can be considered incredibly fulfilling already.
