On the evening of April 13, in the clash against SBTC Esports, GAM Esports defeated the “Pink Chicken” with a score of 2-0. Although it was just a procedural match where the result would not affect both teams’ standings, GAM and SE both displayed clear determination. However, the black-and-yellow team showed more composure. With this victory, GAM completed the group stage perfectly with a flawless record. Simultaneously, Levi and his teammates became the second team, after T1, to finish the group stage with an unbeaten streak.

However, even though they secured a spot at the SEA Games 31, GAM will still not have the opportunity to attend MSI 2022, even if they clinch the championship in the Spring 2022. This is because national duty is more important than anything else. And if nothing changes, in the event that GAM wins the VCS Spring 2022 championship, it is highly likely that the runner-up team will be chosen to replace the black-and-yellow boys at MSI 2022. Currently, aside from GAM, the other three teams that made it to the playoffs—Saigon Buffalo, CERBERUS Esports, and Team Secret—are all likely candidates to replace GAM at the upcoming Busan event.

With VCS leaving a significant impression on the international community, the global LoL community also expressed regret that Levi and his teammates could not attend MSI. There are even many opinions suggesting that if GAM were to win with an unbeaten record similar to T1, then despite VCS not being highly regarded while Faker and his teammates are currently “Unbeatable Gods,” the match would still be highly anticipated. This is because VCS is always known for its fiery playstyle, while T1 is approaching perfection and operates many gameplay styles effectively, suitable for different opponents.

At the upcoming SEA Games 31, Vietnam will be the top contender for the gold medal in the LoL event. And even though they are highly regarded, the GAM players will need to focus intensely and put in their utmost determination in every match, not only to win but also to achieve convincing victories, worthy of the host nation’s status at SEA Games 31 as well as having one of the strongest LoL scenes in Southeast Asia.
