After an extremely successful opening day where they defeated both T1 and RNG, G2 Esports continued to showcase their top form with two more victories against Evil Geniuses and Saigon Buffalo. In the match against EG, G2 faced quite a few difficulties at the start when Impact proved to be very resilient with the champion Mordekaiser. However, with Flakked’s excellent positioning in team fights, G2 still held a significant advantage towards the end of the match and secured the victory.

In the match against SGB, fans of League of Legends in Vietnam had some hope that the history of MSI 2019 would repeat itself and the representative from VCS would make a mark. However, G2 Esports in 2022 showed a stark contrast to the past and played in a very methodical way to defeat SGB. Even the player expected to bring the comedic moments – Jankos – turned out to be the best performer with precise interventions and never getting taken down.

This victory marked G2 Esports’ 24th consecutive win since they were pushed down to the losers’ bracket at LEC Spring 2022. It’s not an exaggeration to say that at this moment, G2 Esports is the biggest contender for the MSI 2022 championship as they are performing exceptionally well in almost all positions. Even a link considered weak like Jankos can still “carry the team,” making G2 Esports a terrifying team.

As for SGB, they still showcased their strength with Shogun’s excellent laning ability and diverse champion pool. However, SGB’s choice of a highly adventurous lineup is causing them difficulties in executing their game plan. This is perhaps an area that SGB needs to improve if the VCS representative wants to score points in the Rumble Stage of MSI 2022 this time.
