In League of Legends, not only Skarner or Swain (the champions currently being adjusted by Riot) but many other names have also been out of the meta for a long time and need major “overhauls” to return to Summoner’s Rift. One of them, often mentioned in 2021 when the Ruination event was introduced to the League of Legends community, is Yorick – a champion whose lore and skill set are closely related to the Black Mist and the Shadow Isles. Unfortunately, Yorick continues to… be missing in action.

With a “summon minion” skill set that’s quite strong when having Mist and the ultimate ability to summon the Maiden of the Mist, Yorick has been out of the meta for a long time. In fact, the duration of Yorick’s disappearance in professional matches might rival that of Skarner. His strong split-pushing skills are all he has to offer. In team fights, with the huge burst damage from current champions, Yorick might not even have the chance to do anything before he “hits the books”.

Recently, on Reddit, a player left the League of Legends community in utter shock. Specifically, this player used Yorick to solo kill the Earth Dragon. Notably, Yorick only needed to cast Mist at the Dragon’s lair while moving down to support teammates. But within just 20 seconds, the Mist managed to take down the Earth Dragon – a speed that could be considered quite fast, rivaling actual champions.
Many comments expressed surprise at the damage capability of the Mist. Although Yorick in the clip was also quite underfed, being more than 2 levels above the opponent’s Mid Laner (Singed). However, taking down a notoriously tough Dragon benefit like the Earth Dragon in just 20 seconds is quite impressive.

However, it cannot be denied that Yorick has a very good damage-dealing skill set, suitable for pushing lanes and attacking major objectives. But just because he is heavily out of meta, this champion is nearly never used anymore. And it may be that only when Riot truly “intervenes” will Yorick have a chance to be picked up again, otherwise, he might only occasionally be brought out for League of Legends players to… reminisce about the good old days.
