In the match considered the highlight of the quarter-finals of the World Championship (Worlds) 2022, Royal Never Give Up (RNG) suffered a defeat against T1. Not only was it a loss, but RNG also became the second LPL representative to bid farewell to the Worlds 2022. The League of Legends community was even more surprised when T1 crushed RNG in just 3 swift games.

RNG’s players did not perform as well as they did against T1 during the MSI Finals 2022. Especially in the decisive third game, RNG’s players seemed completely exhausted both mentally and physically, resulting in numerous disjointed plays. Coupled with the outstanding performance of T1’s members, the course of this entire Bo5 match was somewhat not as exciting as fans of League of Legends around the world had hoped before the match.

In a post-match statement, Xiaohu shared his thoughts on the reasons he believed led to RNG’s defeat against T1. He apologized to LPL fans and admitted that he himself had not fully recovered in terms of health. Throughout all three games, Xiaohu did not really showcase his best performance. Particularly in the second game, some of Xiaohu’s plays were read by T1, contributing to RNG losing control of the match.

However, RNG’s explanation received backlash from LPL viewers. While it is true that RNG’s players have gone through a period of serious health issues, it cannot be denied that several mistakes ultimately led to their loss against T1. Notably, players like Breathe and Xiaohu did not perform better than their T1 counterparts.

With the defeat against T1, RNG has become the second LPL representative to exit Worlds 2022. For their part, after RNG, T1 will face JD Gaming – the reigning LPL Summer 2022 champions. This is a crucial match for both teams, and surely the players will need to stay focused to bring back the best possible results for their team.
