In recent days, while the global League of Legends (LoL) community is focusing all attention on the ongoing World Championship (Worlds) in South Korea, the VCS is still witnessing notable events. Recently, information has emerged regarding Saigon Buffalo potentially being acquired by Vikings. Previously, not long ago, the owner of SGB – Mr. Grandon Nguyen announced that he would sell this team along with its competition slot VCS for the upcoming season.

Regarding Vikings Gaming, this organization is well-known among fans of LoL in Vietnam and the gaming community in the S-shaped country in general. This organization previously owned two teams that participated in the VCS, namely Hanoi Vikings (2014-2015) and Vikings Gaming (2018). However, Vikings Gaming has not been very successful, as these teams did not leave a significant mark or win any titles before disbanding with regret. Additionally, Vikings Gaming owns a massive net cafe system, closely associated with many generations of Vietnamese gamers.

Even more notably, since returning from the LPL, SofM has become a shareholder of Vikings alongside famous streamer Bomman. Immediately, upon the news that Vikings Gaming has acquired SGB, SofM has also been mentioned. Many opinions suggest that SofM may take on the role of coach for this team. After all, he has been away from professional LoL for quite some time, and it’s uncertain if SofM still has the passion for being a player. However, as a coach, SofM has made certain notable impacts in the recent past.

Of course, these are just hypotheses from VCS fans, and furthermore, neither Vikings Gaming nor SGB has provided any confirmation. Currently, SofM is still focused on co-streaming the Worlds 2023 tournament while providing his insights and analysis on the matches.

However, if SofM truly becomes a coach, it would be an invaluable asset for the Vietnamese LoL community. At this moment, the fresh perspectives that SofM could bring are showing positive potential, and VCS needs such “winds of change” to truly progress in the future.
