On October 2nd, the number one seed of League of Legends Vietnam – GAM Esports arrived in New York to attend the biggest tournament of this game World Championship (CKTG) 2022. After arriving in New York, the GAM members began their training schedule for CKTG. The entire team has about a week to acclimatize to the competitive environment in the USA.
GAM Faces “Jet Lag” After Arriving in the USA
In the USA, the members of GAM are facing some difficulties adjusting to the new living hours. Some players are still experiencing “Jet lag” and are in the process of adjusting to the time zone, so they can return to their best state.
Player Trần Duy Sang (Kiaya) shared: “We are still not used to the new living hours and the weather in the USA. I am trying to go to bed earlier to adjust my biological clock to fit the new time zone. Thanks to that, I can practice in the best way for the upcoming group stage.”
Health is the top priority for GAM at this time so that players can be in the best physical and mental state for this tournament. Accordingly, besides training time, GAM members also dedicate a portion of their day to physical training.
“GAM dedicates 30 minutes to 1 hour each day for exercise. When we were in Vietnam, we were guided on many physical training exercises and breathing techniques to maintain the best mentality when competing,” Coach Phan Huy Phong (JackieWind) said.
GAM Esports Has Experience Competing Against TOP Esports
In the group stage of CKTG 2022, GAM’s first opponent in Group C is TOP Esports – the second-ranked team from the LPL region. This is a highly regarded opponent in terms of expertise. Ahead of the challenging opening match, Coach JackieWind made some comments about this match: “GAM has had the opportunity to practice with TOP Esports many times, so we have gained a lot of experience facing them. Although this will be a tough challenge for the entire team, we will do our best to achieve good results against TOP Esports.”
Additionally, TK Nguyễn – CEO of NRG Asia and the “owner” of this team also added: “GAM is fully focused on training to achieve the best results at this World Championship. With SGB having unfortunately been eliminated from the tournament, GAM is striving even harder to complete the unfinished part of SGB. GAM’s goal is always to fight with all their might and achieve new milestones for VCS at CKTG.”
At this World Championship, GAM players also mentioned that they had the opportunity to meet and interact with many Esports stars from around the world. Player Đỗ Duy Khánh (Levi) excitedly shared: “The players at CKTG are very friendly and sociable, and they are very happy to chat with us. On the flight to New York, we happened to be on the same flight as the CFO (CTBC Flying Oyster) members. They have practiced with us a lot during the domestic season. I hope to meet and practice more with many talented players at this World Championship to learn even more experience.”
After the Play-In stage, the 4 representatives advancing to the Group Stage have been determined as DragonX, Fnatic, Royal Never Give Up, and Evil Geniuses. According to the group draw results, at CKTG 2022, GAM is in Group C along with TOP Esports, Rogue, and DragonX. This is considered a tough group for the number one seed from Vietnam as all of their opponents are very strong. GAM will have their first Group Stage match on October 9, 2022, against TOP Esports.
