In the first quarterfinal match of the 2023 World Championship (Worlds), Weibo Gaming (WBG) claimed a convincing 3-0 victory over NRG. This win allows TheShy and his teammates to advance to the semifinals, where they will face the winner of the match between Gen.G and Bilibili Gaming (BLG). As for NRG, despite a thrilling journey through the Swiss stage, they had to bow out here as WBG proved to be far stronger.

One highlight of WBG’s recent victory was the performance of the Bot Lane duo, Light and Crisp. The LPL representatives made an incredibly accurate decision by selecting Milio for Crisp, which helped the team secure convincing wins. This champion allowed WBG to completely dominate the Bot Lane and put significant pressure on their opponents.
Moreover, Milio’s excellent ability to protect the ADC also enabled Light to deal substantial damage in the later stages of the game. Notably, this quarterfinal marked the first time Crisp used Milio at Worlds 2023. This was a surprising pick that the LPL representatives brought out to secure victory against NRG.

After the match, Team Heretics’ coach Peter Dun noticed that WBG seemed to have learned how to use Milio from Fnatic. This could indeed be a possibility, as the only loss that this team suffered from Fnatic in the Swiss stage came from the LEC representatives using Milio. This defeat apparently showed the LPL representatives the power of this champion and prompted them to practice and utilize it in their match against NRG.

Interestingly, in the recent Swiss stage, Crisp’s most used champion was Renata Glasc (4 times). Perhaps realizing this, NRG banned Renata Glasc in all 3 games of the recent quarterfinal. Fortunately for WBG, Fnatic provided them a hint named Milio to replace Renata Glasc. WBG truly owes a thank you to Fnatic for this choice.

In the upcoming semifinals, WBG will face the winner of the match between Gen.G and BLG. Who knows, WBG might bring out some interesting picks in this match that they learned from NRG. It wouldn’t be surprising if WBG uses the Senna – Tahm Kench duo (NRG’s signature combo) in the upcoming match.
