On June 18 (Vietnam time), Weibo Gaming faced off against Team WE. This is a team that is completely outmatched when compared to the players on the WBG side. Therefore, this match was expected to help SofM and his teammates regain some confidence and stabilize their mindset, especially after the recent embarrassing loss to EDward Gaming.

In reality, the match unfolded just as the audience expected from WBG, at least in game 1. SofM and his teammates demonstrated that when they play focused, they can crush any opponent. A one-sided game was established right from the early moments of the match. Although there were still some issues with dragon control, WBG didn’t need the Dragon Soul to annihilate WE. In fact, if TheShy hadn’t been too “enthusiastic” in the final teamfight, WBG might have even had a “flawless” game.
However, in game 2, WBG continued their forgettable “tradition” from Spring 2022 (and many matches in the previous 2021 season): disregarding everything, from towers, Dragon Soul to… even the entire match. Even Kalista from Smlz, who had been completely crushed in game 1, became a “demon” for WBG in game 2. And when Smlz made his voice heard, Huanfeng fell silent, and WBG was forced to accept the opponent leveling the score.
But in game 3, WBG played focused and cautiously again like in game 1. Although it wasn’t a devastating match, WBG still capitalized on the advantages they had. The match gradually tilted when Huanfeng was too “fed” and completely obliterated WE’s bot lane, “avenging” for game 2. WBG faced numerous difficulties but fulfilled their mission in the match against WE.
However, despite having 2 acceptable games 1 and 3 that helped WBG defeat WE, Huanfeng still left many doubts, especially in game 2. Notably, Huanfeng could not demonstrate his “independent combat” ability while ON had to move to support other lanes.

Additionally, the players’ continuous failure to control crucial objectives like dragons in a dominant game also raises concerns in the community. Some opinions suggest that if WBG doesn’t improve their gameplay, even reaching Worlds will be incredibly challenging.

Nevertheless, the important thing is that WBG secured the victory. The burdens have been temporarily lifted. Surely, everyone hopes that this victory will help SofM and his teammates regain confidence and find the best strategies for the remaining journey in this season.
