Rumors Emerge of Viper and Gen.G Working with KeSPA Over ASIAD 2026 Roster
Since KeSPA announced the six players representing South Korea’s League of Legends team for the upcoming ASIAD 2026, heated debates have erupted across the global LoL community. Even analysts, casters, KOLs, and streamers have weighed in on the matter. Recently, a new development surfaced with images of Viper returning to Korea, and LPL rumors claim he is preparing to discuss with KeSPA over his omission from the ASIAD roster.
Not only Viper but also Gen.G’s CEO Arnold Hur recently declared plans to appeal to KeSPA regarding Top laner Kiin’s case. This has further fueled community unrest as previous controversies remain unresolved.

Hope or Just Fan Wishful Thinking from Viper and Gen.G Supporters
The most contentious position in this whole story is the Jungle role. However, it seems Gen.G’s CEO may have overlooked this when labeling the “selection system as flawed.” Clearly, if Gen.G succeeds in appealing for Kiin, does that imply the system erred by selecting Canyon? How would Gen.G or KeSPA then explain Canyon’s case?
Turning to Viper’s case, the issue lies in performance and achievements. According to KeSPA’s criteria based on tournament results, throughout 2024-2025 and up to now, Viper’s best accomplishments include winning LCK Summer 2024, LCK Cup 2025, and First Stand.

However, in these seasons, Gumayusi and T1 consistently placed at least in the LCK top 4. Excluding MSI, Viper and HLE have underperformed at Worlds compared to Gumayusi and T1. From the start of this season to now, their performances are roughly equal, with Viper slightly ahead due to the First Stand 2026 title, though this tournament is not recognized by KeSPA criteria.
Thus, in terms of achievements, Gumayusi arguably has a slight edge. Additionally, a Weibo survey of the LoL community indicated that debates focus mainly on Canyon’s spot, followed by Zeka, rather than Gumayusi or Zeus.

Therefore, it appears the core issue is Canyon’s position, not the choice between Kiin – Viper and Zeus – Gumayusi. If Gen.G’s CEO or Viper’s fans intend to appeal, it may be wishful thinking or a way to show they have taken action rather than expecting a turnaround favoring their supported player.
