Gen.G begins a challenging week in LCK 2026 Rounds 1-2, while HLE and T1 have a “lighter” schedule
With only two weeks left, the group stage of LCK 2026 Rounds 1-2 is nearing its conclusion. Currently, four teams—HLE, KT, T1, and Gen.G—have officially qualified for the Road to MSI 2026. However, rankings are still undecided, and under the new season format, teams ranked 3 and below will have only “one life,” meaning a single loss results in elimination. Therefore, securing a top 1-2 spot is the goal for every top team. Among these four, Gen.G is in the most difficult position.

In the final group stage matches, Gen.G will face KT followed by HLE. This week, KT will be the first opponent for the reigning LCK Cup 2026 champions. Although Gen.G has historically performed well against KT, KT is currently highly motivated to secure a top 1-2 position. Moreover, KT recently defeated HLE and is entering this match with strong momentum.
If Gen.G suffers just one more loss in their remaining four matches, it is highly likely they will finish around 3rd or 4th place in the group stage. This would make their Road to MSI journey even more difficult.

For KT, their tough week begins with Gen.G as their first opponent. Meanwhile, HLE and T1 have relatively easier matches. However, both BNK (HLE’s opponent) and BRO (T1’s opponent) are highly motivated to reach the top 6 to advance further in the Road to MSI. Therefore, neither HLE nor T1 can afford to be complacent.
