Vietnam’s League of Legends Temporarily Disables Automatic Demotion Feature, Players Can Rest Easy During the Pandemic

A psychological move from Garena Vietnam, helping League of Legends players who cannot play at home feel more at ease during the quarantine period.

Following the Southeast Asian League of Legends servers and some other regions, the publisher Garena Vietnam has recently announced the temporary suspension of the Automatic Demotion feature in League of Legends starting from April 1.

It is important to emphasize that this is an official announcement and not a joke; the purpose is to support players who are unable to play at home during the pandemic.

One point that the gaming community needs to keep in mind is that the suspension of Automatic Demotion does not mean the Ranked Mode is closed. Automatic Demotion only applies to accounts that have not logged in for a long time; in that case, the player’s rank points will be automatically deducted.

For players who still log in and play regularly, this feature is almost… irrelevant; if you lose too many games, points will still be deducted and your rank will drop. Conversely, if you win, you will naturally gain points and rank up.

Overall, the suspension of the Automatic Demotion feature will benefit players who cannot play at home, especially since internet cafes and Cyber Games have temporarily closed during the pandemic. This is quite a psychological move from Garena Vietnam, helping to reassure players who cannot play games during this time; at least, even if they cannot try hard, they won’t have to worry about being unfairly demoted anymore.
