After a 0-2 defeat to Invictus Gaming on July 19, Victory Five (V5) has now suffered their 11th consecutive loss in the group stage of the LPL Summer 2021. This team has managed to secure only 1 game win while their opponents have destroyed their nexus a staggering 22 times.
This result keeps V5 as the only team in all five major leagues without a single win this summer, and they are now just five games away from matching their old record – a 16-game losing streak with a score of 1-32, set during the LPL Spring 2020.
Ironically, the name of this team is completely opposite to their performance. In fact, V5 had a relatively bright period during the LPL Summer 2021. They even made it to the playoffs, defeating FunPlus Phoenix before being shut down by Suning. In Spring 2021, although somewhat declining, V5 still managed to secure 6 wins. However, ultimately this team has now “revealed its true form” in this summer season.

The “glorious” period for V5 was not the result of internal restructuring but largely due to the players they borrowed from Suning’s youth team – BiuBiu, WeiWei, and Samd.
When the contracts expired, V5 could not buy these players back, and their performance has plummeted dramatically.

Backed by Ha Du Quan – son of Macau gambling tycoon Ha Hong San, V5 was once considered the team with the number one financial potential in the LPL. However, things did not go as hoped, as Ha Du Quan was not as patient as Zhang Kang Yang, nor as passionately devoted to Esports as Wang Zi Tong, leading to V5 quickly being “discarded” by the second-generation rich Ha due to unsuccessful short-term investment strategies.
While they still maintain their slot in the LPL, with such dismal results, it would not be surprising if the name Victory Five disappears from the maps of League of Legends in China in the near future.
