For fans of VCS, the VCS Twilight tournament taking place today, June 22, is highly anticipated. This season, the tournament does not introduce any new teams. However, there have been many noteworthy personnel changes within existing teams. Notably, teams like GAM Esports (GAM) and SBTC Esports (SE), as well as Saigon Buffalo (SGB), have made significant changes in their key positions.

The most notable change is with GAM, who have replaced their AD carry Sty1e with Slayder – regarded as the best AD carry in VCS currently. During his time with SE in VCS Dawn, Slayder was a solid backbone for the team known as “Pink Chicken.” Without many shining moments from Slayder, SE would likely have struggled to achieve the runner-up position and to reach the finals of VCS for the first time.

The addition of Slayder to GAM not only enhances their current lineup but also affects their competitors. SE has suffered significant losses, as Vinboiz – who was Sty1e’s substitute – has yet to instill confidence. Moreover, “Pink Chicken” has also lost coach Ren, raising serious doubts about their strength in VCS Twilight.

Aside from SE, other teams have not made direct transfers with GAM but have also experienced significant personnel changes. SGB has nearly disbanded its entire previous lineup and welcomed new faces. CERBERUS Esports has also parted ways with Artemis and EGO – key players that helped them secure the VCS Winter Championship. Losing Artemis could pose challenges for CES, as he had been a mainstay for the “Cerberus” for many years.

After GAM successfully recruited Slayder, many fans believe it may be time to “hand the trophy over to GAM.” This is because their previous weakness, Sty1e, has now been replaced by a much higher quality name. As mentioned earlier, their competitors have also weakened themselves, making it difficult for them to compete with GAM.
Of course, GAM’s goal is not just to dominate the domestic arena. Three out of four members of GAM are also part of the ASIAD roster and they are also heading towards the World Championship. That is truly GAM’s highest goal after one of the most forgettable MSI periods in the team’s history as well as that of VCS.
