Thus, after the last match on July 10th between Team Whales and CERBERUS Esports, VCS Summer 2022 has concluded its first week of competition. Although it has just begun, many surprises have been brought by the teams in this tournament. Notably, in the first week of competition, several “giants” of the Vietnamese League of Legends scene have “fallen” against weaker opponents. Prominently, GAM Esports (GAM), Saigon Buffalo (SGB), and recently CERBERUS Esports (CES).

Because of the thrilling and unpredictable nature of the matches, and with the teams aiming for a spot in the 2022 World Championship, most matches have been exceptionally entertaining. Names like Team Whales (TW) or SBTC Esports (SE) are showing that their investments are quite accurate and on the right track. Especially, SE has achieved a feat that many generations of the team have not accomplished, specifically in the VCS tournament: defeating GAM in an official match of this tournament.

Recently, the League of Legends community in Vietnam is even more excited to learn that the viewership for the matches of VCS Summer 2022 is at a very high number. Specifically, in the match between AS Esports and Team Whales, there were more than 40 thousand viewers watching live, nearly double the average viewership of the entire VCS Spring 2022. Meanwhile, the live viewership for the GAM vs. SE match reached over 105 thousand views. This number is comparable to the peak live viewership of the recent VCS Spring Finals.
According to many experts, the MSI 2022 effect with the impressive performance of SGB, and previously GAM’s championship with an undefeated record has contributed to rekindling interest in the highest-level tournament of the Vietnamese League of Legends. Additionally, this tournament is receiving more attention as Vietnamese teams have another chance to participate in the 2022 World Championship after many years of absence.

Regardless of the reasons, it can be said that VCS Summer 2022 is becoming more exciting and its results are harder to predict. In this situation, the audience is the biggest beneficiary as any match now promises to be incredibly captivating and dramatic.
