VKE’s blockbuster deal leaves the VCS community “exploding”
In the final days of 2024, as the late transfer window is drawing to a close, teams are racing to finalize their rosters for the new season. Recently, VCS welcomed a true “blockbuster” as MGN Vikings Esports officially announced that SwordArt, SofM’s former teammate, will be joining the team for the 2025 season.

This deal has genuinely stunned the VCS community. Although SwordArt has been past his peak for a while now, both he and SofM are former World Championship runners-up. Moreover, while SwordArt’s fame may not be as pronounced in the LPL or the broader League of Legends community, he is a true icon in the APAC region.
Furthermore, many viewers speculate that SwordArt’s move to SofM’s team might involve some relational factors. He and SofM are close former teammates from their time at Suning. Additionally, before joining VKE, he had just left the CBTC Flying Oyster team. Therefore, joining VKE and continuing to compete in the LCP 2025 is a completely logical move.

SwordArt’s Role for VKE and VCS
At this moment, it is unclear whether SofM will allow his former teammate to take the stage. However, SwordArt’s recruitment could contribute significantly in terms of expertise. Currently, in the VCS, almost no one has the experience that the former SN star brings to the Support role.
Moreover, during his time competing in the LPL, SwordArt demonstrated excellent strategic vision, as he and SofM were the two main shot-callers for their team. In this regard, the former player born in 1996 could provide a more comprehensive perspective compared to what SofM and his coaching staff have offered to previous players.

VCS fans also hope that SwordArt will succeed and open a new chapter for VCS teams, as foreign players can join in various roles but all contribute to the strong development of the Vietnamese League of Legends scene.
