Champions with Exactly the Same Skills as the Previous Season
Every time a new season of Teamfight Tactics arrives, what excites players the most is how the champions will change compared to the previous season. Even small factors like skill changes or mechanics surrounding that champion are enough to get players excited about an old character. For example, Yasuo in previous seasons has had his skills tweaked slightly each season to refresh a character that has been around since the very beginning.

Therefore, champions with skills that are exactly the same, both in form and effects, can be quite frustrating for players. In Season 6, we have champions like Poppy and Leona who possess skills that are almost identical to previous seasons. Leona’s skill was upgraded to a cost of 3 gold, but in terms of form, it still resembles the previous season, making players feel quite bored, and Riot needs to fix this issue.
Golden Shovel Has Too Low Value
Created as one of the most powerful items in Teamfight Tactics, but in Season 6, the Golden Shovel was rated extremely low. The reason stems from the fact that the traits that can be combined from the Golden Shovel are highly situational, and this item does not create a truly strong gameplay style. Moreover, with the technology core mechanics appearing more frequently thanks to the technology shards, the influence of the Golden Shovel becomes even lower.

As a result, matches starting with all players having a Golden Shovel in the common selection round are considered “bad omens” in the current meta. Essentially, this item is quite hard to obtain and has an appearance rate as low as the strong item Neeko’s Help, but the value it provides at this time is too low. Therefore, in the upcoming Season 7, players hope that Riot Games will restore the value of the Golden Shovel.
Over-Reliance on Items Beyond Necessary Levels
One of the main reasons why Teamfight Tactics is often referred to as “luck-based chess” lies in the fact that this game is overly directed by items. Meanwhile, items appear completely randomly from monster rounds to the technology cores like Pandora’s Box, Recyclable Shards. No matter how skillfully you handle your team composition or how strong your carry is, without the necessary items, you are still likely to lose.

This issue has been acknowledged by the Project Lead of Teamfight Tactics – Riot Mortdog, who promised to find a way to adjust it. Riot Mortdog once stated on stream that the orientation in building teams should be traits > champions > items. In reality, the opposite is happening where items are the biggest deciding factor in the team composition that players build. Hopefully, Riot will find a way to reduce the power of items so that the dependency on them can drop to a truly reasonable level.
