Tired of Cute Champions, Is Riot About to Turn a “Brutish” God into the New Marksman of LoL?

League of Legends players have discovered strong connections between the teaser image of the new Marksman from Riot and several giant gods from Freljord.

As we know, on January 7th, Riot Games held a lengthy livestream discussing their plans for 2022. Regarding the new champion release, they introduced Zeri, a somewhat “dark” Support character, alongside a new jungle champion from the Void and the first teaser image of a new Marksman. This new Marksman, described as very unconventional, is set to debut at the end of 2022.

Looking at the image above, players will surely feel extremely puzzled as there are 7 hands with 7 different “signs”. This makes it hard for us to envision a character with a normal human shape. Therefore, the ambiguity surrounding this character grows even larger, considering that the continent of Runeterra is filled with countless monsters and mysterious beings.

However, after some time of investigation, players have gradually identified the first characters that could fit the aforementioned image. The most popular hypothesis is that one of the Watchers from Freljord will become the new Marksman that Riot introduced above. According to the image from League of Legends’ Wikipedia, these Watchers have many arms, and even when casting their magic, they “sign” just like the hands depicted above.

Not stopping there, the theme for this year is expected to be heavily related to the Void, as seen in the cinematic “The Call” where Kai’Sa battles a Xer’Sai creature. In this video, we also see scenes of Sejuani and Olaf fighting in Freljord, along with Ornn forging weapons for someone.

And what a coincidence that the Watchers in the League of Legends universe are related to both the Void and Freljord. In case you didn’t know, the Watchers are ancient beings from the Void, masters over all other Void creatures, creators of the prototype models of modern humanity. They are responsible for transforming the native beings in Freljord into Iceborn. Therefore, it makes perfect sense if Riot decides to introduce one of these Watchers into League of Legends.

Of course, the information mentioned above remains at the level of “conspiracy theory” for now. We still have to wait a long time for more information and details about this mysterious character from Riot Games.
