Since the first matches of the Swiss stage of Worlds 2023 took place, many exciting matches have occurred. The teams have showcased their best performances. Some teams have had to leave the tournament while others have advanced, carrying the hopes of their regions. Recently, Weibo Gaming officially became the first representative to reach the final of Worlds 2023, after defeating Bilibili Gaming in the Semi-Finals.

In all the matches leading up to the clash between JD Gaming and T1, many items have been chosen by the teams. From meta items designed specifically for unique champions to rare situational items that are seldom used. However, among all these matches, there is one item that almost every position picks up, even those positions that traditionally have very few resources like Support. This item is considered capable of turning the tide of a match in an instant. It is the Stasis Clock.

Statistics show that since the Swiss stage began until just before the showdown between JDG – T1, a total of 264 Stasis Clocks have been used across all matches at Worlds 2023. The team that has used this item the most is none other than the LCK representative – KT Rolster and the recently eliminated team – Bilibili Gaming. Additionally, Bdd is the player who has used the Stasis Clock the most, having purchased a total of 10 Stasis Clocks in the 12 games played. Of these 10, Bdd sold 5 of them and upgraded to Zhonya’s Hourglass only once.

It can be seen that with just the Stasis Clock, an experienced player may not even need to upgrade it to higher items like Guardian Angel or Zhonya’s Hourglass. The utility of these items is only significant in crucial team fights or when the team is being cornered. Meanwhile, a cheap Stasis Clock, at the right moment, can completely determine the outcome of a match. However, despite the effectiveness and “overpowered” nature of the Stasis Clock, Riot has yet to take any action to suggest they will nerf this item in the future.

This is not the first time Riot has been warned about the Stasis Clock. However, despite the efficiency and versatility that this item provides, Riot remains remarkably indifferent. Nevertheless, players understand that if any changes are to be made, they may have to wait until after Worlds concludes.
