A Flood of Unfavorable Information for LPL After the 2024 Worlds Finals
Following Bilibili Gaming’s defeat at Worlds 2024, there have been unfavorable reports surrounding the future of League of Legends in China. The “first shot” came from Doinb, the 2019 Worlds champion, who stated that the LPL is monitoring BLG’s match but the team has lost: “When LPL teams announce their rosters, everyone will know the issue. There could be about 50%, even 80%, of players that people have never heard of before.” Additionally, Doinb expressed concern about BLG’s ability to maintain their current roster for next year.

Not to mention, there are reports that starting from the 2025 season, LPL teams will no longer need to maintain a youth roster. Furthermore, the LPL community is abuzz with news that four teams are disbanding their LDL teams. For those who are unaware, LPL teams have been maintaining youth teams in the LDL. However, for many years, the LDL has not truly become a “sanctuary” for young players. Instead, the tournament has been postponed for a long time due to continuous scandals being uncovered.

But an insider from LPL has spoken out
However, in a recent turn of events, Crisp – a player who just competed in Worlds 2024 with Weibo Gaming – has reassured fans. According to him, Doinb’s former teammate during the 2019 Worlds has confirmed that there will not be any major changes in LPL next season. “If anything, it’s just that some players’ salaries might fluctuate by a few thousand RMB,” Crisp shared on his streaming channel.

Nevertheless, it is almost certain that LPL fans will have to brace for many changes in the upcoming season. However, with the 2025 Worlds set to be held in China, LPL teams may still be able to muster their strength one more time before making more significant decisions in the long term, should League of Legends truly decline here.
