The person in the frame is Văn Tùng – one of the familiar commentators of League of Legends in Vietnam. For those who have followed him for a long time, this image is not just a simple story of a fan meeting his idol, but it also recalls the journey of over a decade that he has dedicated to League of Legends as a professional behind the scenes.

Starting from a Passion for League of Legends

Lê Văn Tùng, born in 1995, is currently a commentator, streamer, and content creator closely associated with League of Legends in Vietnam. In 2023, he married his girlfriend Mai Dora – a well-known MC and KOL in the esports community.

Văn Tùng got into League of Legends in the early years of the game’s appearance in Vietnam, around 2013. At that time, esports was still a novel concept, lacking systematic training and almost non-existent career paths. However, this novelty nurtured the pure passion of the first players, including Văn Tùng.

Not only stopping at playing the game, he spent a lot of time following international tournaments, especially LCK, studying strategies, meta, and how the top teams operate. This was also an important foundation that helped him develop his analytical thinking later on.

The Turning Point into Commentary

2016 marked a significant turning point in Văn Tùng’s career when he began to take commentary on League of Legends seriously. Starting from small-scale tournaments, he gradually accumulated experience, honed his communication skills, analytical ability, and voice control, preparing himself to become a professional commentator.

In the early days of his professional journey, Văn Tùng faced considerable pressure, even receiving negative feedback about his somewhat “immature” commentary style. However, after each match, he gained more experience and gradually overcame his shortcomings, becoming a bright spot among the young commentators of that time thanks to his clear, understandable commentary style that balanced professionalism and emotion. He did not try to create “stunts” or a controversial personality but focused on helping the audience grasp the match more clearly and understandably.

Role as an Analyst at GAM Esports

In 2019, Văn Tùng joined GAM Esports as an analyst, working directly with the coaching staff, including Coach Tinikun. This was a rare phase where he stepped away from the commentary spotlight to enter the professional competition backstage.

His experience at GAM Esports provided Văn Tùng with a more realistic and in-depth perspective on the high-level competition environment, from strategic preparation, player psychology to performance pressure. This knowledge later became a significant advantage when he returned to commentary and professional analysis, helping his insights and evaluations be highly regarded by the viewing community.

Leaving GAM, Joining BOX Studio and Personal Explosion Phase

By 2020, Văn Tùng left GAM Esports to join BOX Studio, focusing on the path of a streamer and YouTuber. This is seen as a strategic decision, helping him expand his personal reach in the context of the booming esports content on digital platforms.

At BOX Studio, Văn Tùng became one of the key faces in co-streaming and analyzing major tournaments, especially LCK and LPL. His polished and consistent content style helped him build a loyal and stable viewer community.

Personal Imprint: The Commentator Associated with LCK and T1

In the eyes of the Vietnamese League of Legends community, Văn Tùng is one of the commentators most deeply connected with LCK. His understanding of the tournament, teams, and Korean players makes him a “support” for Vietnamese viewers whenever following LCK, even during periods when the tournament is not officially broadcasted.

Furthermore, he is also known as a long-time fan of T1 and Faker. However, throughout his professional journey, Văn Tùng has always maintained a clear boundary between personal feelings and professionalism. Despite having a clear affection for a team, he still adheres to a neutral analysis and professional approach, contributing to the reputation he has built over many years in the field.

A Resilient Journey

Throughout his esports journey, viewers can see the dedication Văn Tùng puts into each match and video he creates. In one livestream session, the male MC once shared that he would continue to pursue commentary until the game League of Legends is officially retired. This affirms Văn Tùng’s appeal in the role of a knowledge provider about the game, rather than just being entertaining or humorous. The audience connects with him due to his pleasant voice, profound understanding, and serious style.

It can be said that Văn Tùng is a typical representative of a new generation of commentators who have risen through resilience, seriousness, and a true love for the profession. His professional journey reflects the success in the Vietnamese esports scene, which does not come from a sudden boom but from a long accumulation behind the scenes.
