On This Day: SofM Created New History for LPL, for Vietnamese League of Legends, and for the World
New Year’s Day is always a joyful day for people around the world as the old year passes and new stories and journeys await. However, in some cases, this day will also be used to recall old memories or to honor successes from the past year. In SofM’s case, January 1, 2021, exactly five years ago, is a day that he, SofM’s fans, as well as those from the Vietnamese League of Legends and LPL, can never forget.

Specifically, on January 1, 2021, LPL held a ceremony to honor players and teams with outstanding achievements in 2020. SofM, serving as the jungler and the key player in Suning’s (runner-up at the World Championship) success, achieved a “hat-trick of titles” including: Best Foreign Player of the Year, Best Jungler of the Year, and MVP of the LPL 2020 Finals.
This was not only the first time a jungler in LPL achieved this combo of accolades, but also the first time a League of Legends player from Vietnam reached such heights. From that day on, SofM officially joined the ranks of LPL legends, becoming a figure that almost the entire Chinese League of Legends community must respect.

And the community is even more excited for SofM in the new season
As we know, after the 2025 season ended, SofM officially left his position as head coach of MVKE and returned to his career as a player, also as a jungler. Of course, expecting SofM to perform like he did 5 or 6 years ago is quite challenging. However, fans still have the right to look forward to SofM’s performances in the coming year as a nostalgic reminder of one of the icons of League of Legends in the past.
