It can be said that the enormous prizes from PC gaming competitions are one of the main drivers for the growth of Esports.
The most famous Esports titles today have large tournaments with average prize pools ranging from hundreds of thousands to tens of millions of dollars, such as CS:GO, PUBG, Valorant, and League of Legends. With an extremely large player base, these arenas are fiercely competitive. Nevertheless, tournaments from professional to semi-professional, from university scale to game centers are continuously organized, providing opportunities for many players.
The past year of 2023 was a vibrant year for both the global Esports scene and Esports in Vietnam, with tournaments spanning the entire year, notably VCS 2023 and the 2023 World Championship of League of Legends, numerous tournaments from national to international levels for Arena of Valor, or PMGC and PMNC for the national game PUBG Mobile. In particular, the National Student Open Cup – the first season of the nationwide student esports tournament has officially been launched, featuring competitions in two titles: Valorant and League of Legends. The tournament is expected to be held annually and is aimed at being a platform for networking, connecting, and developing young Esports talents, contributing to opening opportunities for Vietnamese Esports to reach the global stage.

2023 also set a precedent for Battle Teams 2 – Truy Kích PC, a FPS game that just launched in the Vietnamese market mid-year, but the publisher managed to hold 3 tournaments: Showmatch Campus, Campus Championship 2023, and VPL Cyber Battle 2023. These tournaments left a good impression, making players eager to compete in a larger scale event.

Moving into 2024, Battle Teams 2 will continue to organize an international tournament named BT2 Open Cup 2024. This tournament will feature 16 teams competing, including 8 representatives from Vietnam, 4 from China, and 4 from Southeast Asian countries (SEA). Currently, 4 Vietnamese teams that will participate in the group stage have been announced, namely Spartacus Chim Sẻ Đi Nắng, Team Joy (Vikings Gaming), The Light Arena, and OEG Stadium. The remaining 4 teams will be selected through the Playoffs taking place from March 1, 2024, to March 10, 2024.

The total prize pool of $8,000 (equivalent to 200,000,000 VND) with 16 teams and this competition format will provide a great opportunity for FPS players to compete for prizes in a new arena. This is just the opening tournament for the ongoing schedule of Battle Teams 2 – Truy Kích PC throughout 2024.

With PUBG Mobile – PMSL SEA Spring 2024 searching for the Southeast Asian champion and securing a spot in the Champion qualifiers for PUBG Mobile Global Open 2024. Compared to the 2023 season, the 2024 PMSL SEA Spring has increased the number of participating teams from 20 to 24 teams.

The 2024 VCT Challengers Vietnam Split 1, the leading VALORANT esports event in Vietnam, will officially kick off on February 15, 2024, featuring 8 top teams. Organized by VNG Games and Riot Games, this tournament marks the highest-ranked version in the history of VALORANT in Vietnam, continuing the success of the previous 6 seasons and is expected to further develop Vietnamese Esports athletes.

The Spring 2024 Arena of Glory – the highest professional tournament of Arena of Valor in Vietnam is set to officially launch in early March. Fans are eagerly following every development of each tournament. It is hoped that the enthusiastic support from the audience will motivate players to give their all, bringing outstanding achievements to their teams.
With the vibrant debut of the spring of the Year of the Dragon, the Vietnamese esports industry in 2024 is expected to achieve great success and make solid strides on the international stage.
