Recently, Valve officially announced the postponement of The International 10 (TI 10) to 2021 due to the complicated situation of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This news has left the international DOTA 2 community quite disappointed; however, everyone expressed agreement with Valve’s decision, as health and medical safety must come first at this moment.

The postponement of TI10 – one of the largest prize pool Esports tournaments globally – has raised concerns among League of Legends players that the 2020 Worlds may face a similar situation.

Typically, TI tournaments are held in August, while Worlds takes place in October. However, at this point, we still can’t predict whether the pandemic will be controlled by the end of this year.

In that case, it is very likely that the 2020 Worlds will also have to be postponed or even canceled, similar to TI10, MSI 2020, and many other Major tournaments of CS:GO and DOTA 2.

A survey on Score.gg – a Chinese League of Legends news site – also shows that a significant number of local players agree with the postponement of the tournament. Basically, China is one of the countries that has somewhat controlled the spread of Covid-19; however, with the pandemic affecting the whole world, it’s challenging for teams from other regions to participate in the tournament as usual.

Therefore, the majority of Chinese League of Legends players believe that the community should prepare for the possibility that this year’s Worlds could be postponed or even canceled. As mentioned above, even if we lose two major international tournaments in a row, ensuring health and safety amid the pandemic remains the top priority.
