The League of Legends patch 12.14 has arrived on the Vietnamese server early this morning. If you read the patch notes, you probably didn’t pay much attention to the changes regarding dragons at the bottom of the page. In patch 12.14, the dragon buffs will be changed in an unbelievable way, especially for the weaker buffs and dragon souls.
After that, the League of Legends community worldwide calculated the value of dragon buff stats to convert them into gold, and they were truly surprised by the value that dragon buffs bring. Teams will definitely pay much more attention to dragon objectives in the upcoming period.

Specifically, the publisher Riot Games has changed the dragon buffs as follows:
Basic stats of the dragon:
– Damage per hit based on % health: 7% ⇒ 5%
– Health before elemental transformation: (240 per level) ⇒ 3450 (380 per level)
– Health after elemental transformation: 4350 (240 per level) ⇒ 6950 (380 per level)

Benefits of the Wind Dragon buff:
– Additional movement speed outside combat: 3.5%/7%/10.5%/14% ⇒ 7%/14%/21%/28%
– Slow resistance: 7%/14%/21%/28%
– Value per stack = 560 gold/person, total for 1 dragon = 2800 gold

Benefits of the Hextech Dragon buff:
– Cooldown reduction: 6/12/18/24 ⇒ 9/18/27/36
– Attack speed increase: 6%/12%/18%/24% ⇒ 9%/18%/27%/36%
– Value per stack = 465.03 gold/person, total for 1 dragon = 2,325.15 gold

Benefits of the Fire Dragon buff:
– Physical damage and ability power increase: 4%/8%/12%/16% ⇒ 6%/12%/18%/24%
– Value per stack = 340.5 gold/person (at 100 attack power or ability power) and 681 gold/person (at 200 attack power or ability power)
– Benefits increase as the player’s stats increase; the Fire Dragon is truly an investment for the future.

Benefits of the Earth Dragon buff:
– Percentage-based increase in armor and magic resist: 6%/12%/18%/24% ⇒ 9%/18%/27%/36%
– Stack value = 342 gold/person (at 100 Armor/Magic Resist), 684 gold/person (at 200 Armor/Magic Resist)

The value of the Water Dragon is hard to quantify by stats, but the Water Dragon buff is always considered one of the strongest in the game, so its value is certainly not trivial. Clearly, Riot has significantly boosted the individual dragon buffs to attract players’ attention to dragons more in the early game. However, dragons will now have a lot of health, so taking them down will take considerable time, whereas their damage has been significantly reduced. Thus, our publisher aims to accelerate the pace of the game and requires players to control major objectives more in the early game, avoiding too much focus on the Rift Herald.

Just looking at the changes, you can see that dragon stats are now extremely valuable, and many dragon buffs even interact when the game goes long, like the Earth, Fire, and Water Dragons. If you sum all these stats, the value of any dragon buff is much more profitable than before, even stronger than the Rift Herald. Therefore, if you’re playing ranked mode, remember to focus on securing dragons early in the game. However, be mindful of the lanes near the dragon pit since the dragon’s health has significantly increased, making it take much longer to take them down.
