Faker – Chovy: Who Deserves The Game Awards 2024?
On the evening of November 18 (Vietnam time), The Game Awards 2024 (TGA 2024) officially announced the nominees for this year’s award categories. Notably, in the Best Esports Player category, the “rivalry” duo of Faker and Chovy made the list.

Right after the nominations were announced, controversy erupted among fans of the candidates as well as neutral viewers. Regarding Faker, many opinions suggest that throughout the Spring 2024 season leading up to Worlds, he did not perform well. Faker and T1 nearly left empty-handed on all fronts, except for the Esports World Cup 2024. However, the EWC 2024 is not regarded as an official tournament in the esports scene, so it will be difficult to have significant impact.

Despite setting numerous records at Worlds 2024, considering the overall process, it would be hard to convince others if Faker wins.
Meanwhile, Chovy has also experienced ups and downs this year. Specifically, out of the 5 tournaments he participated in, Chovy left empty-handed 3 times. Among them, the most significant was undoubtedly Worlds 2024, where Chovy faced defeat at the hands of Faker.

It can be said that no matter who among these two players wins, it will still lead to endless controversies. Overall, 2024 has not been an absolutely perfect year for either, especially for Faker.
But the likelihood of Faker winning is very high
Among the 6 nominees, Faker is the most renowned and influential. Moreover, his achievements in 2024, while only including the championship at Worlds 2024 and FMVP, may be unmatched by anyone else.
Indeed, Faker has become the only player in League of Legends history to successfully defend the Worlds championship twice and win FMVP twice at this tournament. Achieving victory at Worlds is already challenging, akin to winning the Champions League in football, let alone defending the throne. Yet, Faker has accomplished this twice in less than 10 years.

Therefore, it is likely that Faker will still be chosen as the winner. And although there may be controversies, it is clear that few can deny the greatness and exceptional achievements of Faker and T1 this year.
