Peyz is definitely lagging behind Gumayusi in one important aspect
After the 2025 season ended, the T1 fan community faced disappointing news as ADC Gumayusi officially left the team after a turbulent year. Despite his success with T1, the split was inevitable when both sides could not find common ground. Following that, T1 brought in Peyz – the former ADC of Gen.G and a promising young player. However, up to now, especially as teams begin a season where everyone needs to be more serious, Peyz is showing a significant shortfall compared to Gumayusi: laning ability, especially when playing in the weak side.

In most of T1’s matches in LCK 2026 Rounds 1-2 so far, Peyz has almost only been even or losing in lane. Even in the recent match against BRO, T1 players like Oner and Faker had to frequently move down to the bot lane to prevent Peyz from being overwhelmed. This is extremely rare in previous seasons. Even when the meta has changed, players like Gumayusi or Aiming, Ruler have not needed constant support like Peyz.
For example, in the second game of the loss against DK, T1 had a very strong bot lane duo of Caitlyn – Lux. Specifically, Lux, while not a meta champion, is one of Keria’s comfort picks. When paired with Caitlyn, the chance of winning the lane against Miss Fortune – Lulu is almost guaranteed. In reality, Peyz applied pressure and secured a kill. However, after more than 15 minutes, the bot tower still stood strong with three layers of turret plating intact. This can be seen as a failure of this champion duo.

In contrast, looking back at the Caitlyn – Lux duo of Gumayusi – Keria from the past. In their match against KT in Summer 2024 (the last time the Cait – Lux duo of Gu – Ke appeared), T1 secured their first tower in just 10 minutes along with a Void Dragon.
In fact, in the recent match against Gen.G, Gumayusi was even willing to let Delight roam across the map, accepting to play weak side to funnel resources to the top lane. Notably, even in such situations, being ganked by the opponents, Gumayusi only went down once during the laning phase of game two and still kept pace with his teammates’ power spikes.

Conversely, in game three against DK, when Keria had to use Pyke to roam, the choice of Mel for Peyz was to ensure a champion that could at least hold the lane and still contribute damage as well as crowd control early game – a sort of ADC “supporting role.” The simple reason: with Mel, T1 hoped Peyz could at least spam skills to farm from a distance and not lose lane too much compared to other ADs.

Of course, Peyz cannot become a “second Gumayusi” overnight
After all, T1 is still achieving decent results in the new season. However, their losses are difficult for fans to accept as they are against opponents T1 previously easily surpassed. Peyz himself is also having his first season with new teammates. Therefore, perhaps fans need to give this player more time, rather than directing criticism at Peyz every time T1 fails, while his seniors are also performing below their standards.
