These days, players of Teamfight Tactics are still experimenting with various team compositions as well as choosing the meta that suits them best to effectively climb the ranks. Of course, there are still many metas that need to be explored, especially with the Star Guardian mechanic in play. However, there are quite a few players experimenting with other setups and discovering some extremely effective team compositions that are less contested because they do not fall within a specific meta. Specifically, one of these is the Mage – K/DA team, which has proven to be very effective.

Overview and Gameplay Mechanics
This composition has a certain sturdiness from the Star Guardian trait of Ekko, which is also one of the most important champions that helps the team operate effectively. The damage output of this team relies heavily on Kai’Sa, as Akali can only be obtained in the late game. Therefore, adding Senna is crucial because just having Kai’Sa alone will make it difficult to clean up opponents with strong shields like Star Guardians, Protectors, or Brawlers.

Additionally, this is a “switch it up” composition that is unlikely to become the meta as it relies heavily on various Hextech Augments. However, if players obtain strong augments like the Dark Hextech Shovel or augments that provide powerful effects for Mages, this will be an effective team that is also easy to upgrade.
Building the Team
In the early levels, players can have a strong lineup with Evelyn, Kai’Sa, and Senna, along with K’Sante as the tank. However, it is essential to roll for Ekko early to prevent this champion from being taken by opponents. Additionally, upgrading Kai’Sa is necessary to get through the early and mid-game stages. Don’t hesitate to equip Kai’Sa and other champions early on, as this team requires as many items as possible. Also, since this is a hyper-roll playstyle, players should maintain their gold at around 20. The rest should be rolled frequently to get quality champions.

In the mid-game, it is essential to complete the core team with Kai’Sa and Senna as the main damage dealers. Additionally, the crucial Star Guardian duo will consist of Ekko and Mordekaiser. Adding Seraphine will activate the K/DA trait. If you roll Ahri early, that will be a significant advantage.

By the end of the game, the team needs to be finalized with the inclusion of K/DA Akali. Additionally, Kai’Sa should be upgraded to 3 stars at this point. Blitzcrank will be a better choice over Mordekaiser, and if you have the Dark Hextech Shovel, you can upgrade to level 8 and add 2 more Star Guardians to increase the team’s durability.
Level 8 team composition: Ekko – Blitzcrank – Ahri – Sona – Lulu – Seraphine – Kai’Sa – Senna.

Strengths and Weaknesses

This is a team with limited damage output but has good tankiness and can easily navigate through the early and mid-game stages with strong defensive, healing, and crowd control capabilities. Furthermore, the Mage team has weaknesses such as fragility and a high item dependency… However, a key advantage is the collection of champions that are often underutilized or not very hot in the meta. Therefore, players can upgrade to the highest possible level and rely on luck to achieve victory.
