The Return of Mage – Transformation in TFT Season 13
In the newly released patch 13.3 of TFT Season 13, the Mage has received some noteworthy buffs, particularly a significant increase in AP at all activation levels. This enables the Mage lineup to output an extremely powerful amount of damage in the late game when most units in the composition can leverage this stat. Furthermore, the high AP also allows units like Swain and Vladimir to become quite resilient thanks to their significantly improved healing abilities.

Not stopping there, the Mage lineup also possesses the ability to effectively counter ranged carries in the late game. The reason lies in the fact that both Zoe and LeBlanc have skills capable of dealing damage directly to the opponent’s backline. Combined with the high AP from the 6-8 Mage threshold, these units have more than enough damage to take down enemy carries early on to secure victory.
Building the Mage – Transformation Lineup in TFT Season 13
Players should start with the 1-cost Mage duo of Zyra and Lux to ensure damage output for the lineup. If lucky enough to receive Swain, players can aim for the 4 Mage threshold early by adding Vladimir. Additionally, other tanky traits like Brawler, Protector, or Guardian can be utilized at this stage.

In the mid-game, players will need to find Swain as early as possible to complete the 4 Mage threshold. Additionally, this unit has good tankiness and helps players maintain health and gold to level up to 9 later. Nami is also a valuable addition as her ability grants energy to the entire team, helping other units cast their spells more frequently.

As for the late game, players first need to reach the 6 Mage threshold with the addition of Zoe at level 8. After that, if financially feasible, upgrading to level 9 and adding 5-cost units like Mordekaiser and LeBlanc is crucial. In cases where players have the Sorcerer Emblem, reaching the 8-unit threshold becomes extremely important, and players should assign this emblem to Mordekaiser.

Some Notes When Building the Lineup
Given that this is a lineup dependent on reaching level 9, technology cores that provide additional experience are extremely suitable. Additionally, players should pay attention to choosing upgrades that directly grant the Sorcerer Emblem or Golden Spoon to complete the 8-unit threshold at the end of the game. The most crucial item that players should craft early when playing this lineup is the Shojin Spear, as it fits most current Mage champions.
