Kog’Maw – Guardian Composition in TFT Season 13
Although it hasn’t been nerfed in recent patches of TFT Season 13, the Kog’Maw – Guardian composition is no longer as popular as before. The reason is that players have gradually discovered effective counters to this playstyle by using champions capable of closing in or dealing damage through the backline, such as Ambessa and Twitch. Moreover, some annoying strategies like Renata reroll with her strong shield buff have significantly limited Kog’Maw’s damage output.

Therefore, in the upcoming patch 13.4, Riot Games has made some notable adjustments to help this composition return to the meta. Specifically, two key Guardian units in the mid-game, Vander and Scar, have received significant buffs to their defensive stats and skill healing in this patch. This makes the frontline of the Kog’Maw – Guardian composition much harder to take down and maximizes the conditions for the carry to deal damage.
Diviner – Black Rose Composition in TFT Season 13
Similar to Kog’Maw – Guardian, the Diviner – Black Rose composition has fallen into obscurity in patch 13.3 due to numerous disadvantages. The carry Heimerdinger is fiercely contested, making it quite difficult to upgrade this unit to 2 stars, even at level 9. Furthermore, with the rise of strong damage-focused compositions in the previous patch, Sion’s tankiness proved too weak and of little value in actual combat.

In patch 13.4, the early game power of this composition will be significantly improved as Morgana has received a boost to her skill damage at all levels. Moreover, the healing effect for allies from the Diviner trait will now trigger at 6 champions (with the previous 8 threshold removed), making this composition much tougher. This means that carries requiring time to unleash their abilities multiple times, like Heimerdinger and Malzahar, will shine brightly thanks to their overwhelming damage output. These conditions create an excellent opportunity for the Diviner – Black Rose composition to return strongly in patch 13.4 and reclaim a spot among the meta leaders.
Vanguard – Academy Composition in TFT Season 13
One of the critical weaknesses of the Vanguard – Academy composition is its relatively poor mid-game strength. Players looking to secure a winning streak during this phase depend heavily on the strength of the Academy units at the 3 champion mark. In matches where the Academy items are too specific and difficult to use effectively, players can easily find themselves losing a lot of health in the mid-game.

Perhaps Riot itself understands this issue, so in the upcoming patch 13.4, the mid-game strength of this composition will be significantly boosted. Accordingly, Leona and Lloris will receive very strong buffs to their tank stats at 3 stars. This helps the reroll strategy of the Academy composition become much stronger as players will be able to leverage the tankiness of Leona and Lloris along with the ranged damage from Ezreal. At that point, players will gain a significant health advantage and can aim for higher levels with expensive units to secure the ultimate victory.
