Ahri has risen powerfully in TFT Season 12
Patch 14.16 of TFT Season 12 marked the downfall of the Syndra – Vanguard composition due to significant nerfs. Instead, Ahri along with the Scholar units are rising powerfully in the new meta after receiving notable buffs from Riot Games. Specifically for Ahri, her abilities have seen a substantial increase in AP interaction (especially at higher levels). Meanwhile, the 4 Scholar threshold allows these champions to regenerate energy much more effectively than before.

To give the Scholars enough time to unleash normal attacks, regenerate energy, and continuously cast spells, top players have combined them with Guardian champions. This is because champions from these two systems can activate additional powerful effects from the Hidden, Mystic, or Sorcery traits. This increases both the damage output and durability of the composition, helping players achieve an incredibly high power threshold.
Building the Ahri – Guardian composition in TFT Season 12
In the early game, players should start with the Guardian duo of Lillia and Poppy to ensure tankiness. Meanwhile, Zoe and Ahri will be the backline carry, so they should be acquired before reaching level 4. However, if Ahri is not found, players can use Seraphine as the main carry to effectively sustain health.

By level 6, players should stop buying experience to focus on upgrading Ahri to 3 stars. Additionally, they should pay attention to and buy all units of Lillia and Poppy to upgrade them to 3 stars as soon as possible. This will ensure excellent tankiness for the composition and create more space for the carries to deal damage more effectively. Players should also consider adding Guardian units like Shen and Hecarim to the composition.

After successfully upgrading Ahri to 3 stars, players should aim for level 8 to include valuable 4-cost units like Ryze and Taric. If lucky, players can add Milio to the composition while rerolling at level 8. If Milio is not found, Bard will be an excellent alternative, as this unit is relatively cheap and provides a skill that increases the team’s damage output.

Some notes when building the Ahri – Guardian composition
Zoe will often be the item holder for Ryze, so players can assemble items early for her. However, players should only assemble items early for Zoe if they have the Magic Amplifier, as this unit is also part of the complete composition at higher levels. Additionally, players should position a strong tank unit right in front of Ahri in the front line. This way, Ahri’s ability will hit as many targets as possible to optimize damage output.
