For Season 6 of Teamfight Tactics, tech cores are an incredibly important factor in directing the development of your team composition or, more simply, helping you build your team comp more easily. With up to 150 different tech cores available and only being able to choose 3 out of 9 upgrades each match, many players often mistakenly believe that this factor is completely random. However, the reality is not so, and you can partially control the tech cores you receive.

So, what’s the secret here? The answer lies in a hidden mechanism of Teamfight Tactics Season 6 that Riot Games hasn’t disclosed to us. Masters have discovered that the tech cores that appear will depend on your team composition from the previous round. Additionally, the first tech core is completely random. This will help reduce the likelihood of encountering unwanted cores that provide undesirable traits or increase the chances of obtaining the marks or upgrades you need.
For example, with the team composition below:

As we can see, this player has activated 2 silver trait thresholds: 5 Chemtech, 4 Bruiser, and 2 bronze thresholds consisting of 2 Sentries and 2 Sharpshooters. Therefore, when it comes to the tech core selection round, the priority rate for the appearance of the marks will be Chemtech > Bruiser > Sentries > Sharpshooters. Additionally, the likelihood of obtaining the Quick Draw upgrade for the Chemtech trait will also increase. In the final selection, it could be a multi-functional upgrade like providing gold, items…
When you know this tip, you can limit the collection of unnecessary upgrade cores by avoiding picking units linked to your team composition. For instance, if you are focusing on a Mage composition, you shouldn’t place an Ekko unit in the team during rounds 3-2 or 4-5 as the chance of you receiving the Marks or Assassin Heart in the tech core selection round is high.

Not stopping there, you can completely change your team composition to find ways to achieve the upgrades you want. According to the sharing of Tsmmaa, many players in Teamfight Tactics tend to push to level 8 and completely change their team composition in rounds 4-5. The reason for this action is that they will increase the chances of receiving tech cores like those seen in rounds 4-6 right after that and push the team’s strength higher.

The most obvious example is the Kai’Sa – Mage team. When you level up to level 8 early like this, the chance of having 5-star units with high value such as Galio – Kai’Sa is very large. If you manage to activate the 3 Mage threshold in rounds 4-5, the likelihood of tech cores such as Twin Souls together with Mages, Share Radiance will appear. Utilizing this well, you will not only have a champion named Kai’Sa but also have Galio which is incredibly powerful.
