Teamfight Tactics: Understanding the Mysterious Team Composition – An Odd Angel But a Strong Counter to the Meta

This team composition is suitable for Teamfight Tactics players who enjoy a hyper-roll playstyle.

After being buffed in patch 11.16, team compositions centered around the Demon trait are showing significantly stronger performance in the new meta of Teamfight Tactics. The strength of these compositions lies in the fact that players can reroll for a 3-star Tristana, possessing a carry that deals substantial damage while being extremely hard to take down due to her Rocket Jump ability. So how can we counter the Demon composition with such a reroll playstyle? The answer is to choose an even stronger hyper-roll composition like Mysterious – Angel.

Essentially, the gameplay of this composition revolves around the duo Kalista and Aatrox to ensure damage output and survivability. Moreover, Kalista’s annoyance stems from the fact that she always targets the furthest enemy. With her Rocket Jump ability, Tristana can easily become a target for Kalista to unleash her skills when this unit separates from the formation.

With the Legion system being buffed in patch 11.16, Kalista and Aatrox have become extremely strong carries early in the game. Combining them with two 1-cost Knight units like Leona and Poppy will give players a comprehensive team-comp right at level 4. What you need to do here is apply a hyper-roll strategy to push at least Aatrox and Kalista to 3 stars. You should also remember not to buy experience early in the game to keep the appearance rate of 1-cost champions as high as possible.

After obtaining 3-star Kalista and Aatrox, you should add one of the Angel units such as Lux or Varus to strengthen your team. With 2 3-star carries, players can easily claim victory streaks and gain an advantage over opponents. You should also not worry too much about obtaining damage-reducing items from the general shop as they can be combined into Dragon’s Claw, Thornmail for Aatrox.

By the time you reach level 8, Gwen and Fiddlesticks are the champions you should definitely buy when playing this team composition. Gwen will help your backline carries survive longer in fights to deal damage effectively. This is an important factor when you have to face players using Assassins. Fiddlesticks is another champion that provides area magic damage and helps Kalista and Aatrox dominate the battlefield.

Regarding the “core item” setup, the Green Bow is an extremely important item for Kalista in this composition. The synergy from the Green Bow will allow both Aatrox and Kalista to deal damage more effectively; you should position these two units on the same side of the battlefield to utilize the synergy. Next, you can consider Infinity Edge, Runaan’s Bow, or Giant Slayer as great choices for Kalista.

For Aatrox, as mentioned above, this champion requires defensive items to stay alive in the frontline. In addition to Dragon’s Claw and Thornmail, Warmog’s Armor is also a strong option. For damage items, a Giant Slayers is more than enough for Aatrox to take down enemy units easily.
