Teamfight Tactics: Turning the Meta Around with the “Super Tank” Aatrox in a 6 Legion Composition

Teamfight Tactics players can fully utilize Aatrox's resilience to secure victories with a 6 Legion team.

In recent patches of Teamfight Tactics, units like Riven, Yasuo, and Kayle have faced significant nerfs to their basic damage output from abilities. This has considerably weakened these champions unless they are part of a Legion composition that offers a substantial attack speed boost. Therefore, in patch 11.18b, players have gradually turned to the 6 Legion team, which has proven quite effective, with a top 4 placement rate exceeding 50%.

However, this composition still has the drawback of lacking strong frontline champions in the early and mid-game. To address this, players have devised a reroll strategy to level Aatrox to 3 stars as early as possible. With his formidable healing ability, a 3-star Aatrox can effectively tank damage and allow other units to deal damage comfortably.

An ideal start for the 6 Legion team is to secure Aatrox and Kalista early on. This duo, when reaching 2 stars, provides a significant amount of damage and helps you win early rounds with relative ease. Additionally, players should purchase Celestial units like Leona, Syndra, and Varus to reach the 3-unit threshold for this trait.

With the goal of leveling Aatrox to 3 stars, you should avoid leveling up early to maximize the chance of this champion appearing. Once you successfully accumulate 50 gold, players should opt for a slow roll strategy to upgrade Aatrox and acquire other 2-3 gold Legion units in the mid-game. After successfully upgrading Aatrox to 3 stars, you need to bring more Legion units onto the field to activate the 4-unit bonus as quickly as possible.

After reaching the 4 Legion threshold, your next task is to level up as quickly as possible. Of course, it will be challenging to reach level 8 within a few rounds, so players need to add some tank units to the board to ensure the team’s durability. Sejuani and Hecarim are good choices as they provide resilience from the Knight trait. Moreover, Sejuani also activates the Spirit effect with Yasuo to increase damage and durability.

Once you reach level 8, you’ll need to roll extensively to upgrade key units like Draven and Rell to 2 stars. Don’t forget to purchase Riven and Yasuo during your rolls, as leveling these units to 3 stars can sometimes be the key to victory. Additionally, Kayle is always an important unit that every Legion player wants to have.

In terms of itemization, the Green Bow is the item players should craft first when playing a 6 Legion team. This composition deals a lot of physical damage, so this item will significantly amplify the team’s overall damage output. The most suitable champion to hold this item early on is Kalista; after selling her, players should transfer it to Draven. If you receive many tank items, consider crafting Thornmail and Dragon Claw for Aatrox or Irelia.
