Since the official launch of season 6, Yuumi has never been knocked off her position as one of the strongest champions in Teamfight Tactics. Her power comes from her ability to provide wide-area crowd control, excellent shielding capabilities, and top-notch protection for her teammates. Moreover, with the Scholar effect, Yuumi can recover energy remarkably well without needing any items.

It was thought that with these factors, Yuumi had reached her maximum power level, but recently, a top-ranking Challenger player discovered more potential in this cat champion. Specifically, in the latest stream, North America’s top 12 Challenger player – K3soju discovered a rather strange bug that allows Yuumi to block enemy paths.
K3soju: “Let me tell you something I just discovered. Yuumi has a bug where when she attaches to an ally, the square that this unit stands on is still considered as occupied by a champion until she uses her ability. Therefore, when an enemy champion approaches your carry, they must go around the square where Yuumi is standing. As a result, your carry can maintain a good distance from the opponent without fearing early attacks.”

With this tip, you can effectively counter teams relying on melee carries at the start of rounds like Challenger, Trundle, and Protector. The need to take a detour will make it harder for your carry to be approached and will deal a significant amount of damage output. However, this tip seems to only work with Urgot, as this unit typically stands in the third row and requires Yuumi’s protection. Other units with larger attack ranges usually stand in the back row and do not need this ability.

Of course, while this is a good tip, it still originates from a game bug, and Riot Games needs to fix it as soon as possible. It is very likely that in the upcoming patch 12.1, Riot will return Yuumi to normal operation and will no longer create an “invisible wall” as before.
