The Mystic Cloak
In fact, The Mystic Cloak is a very strong augment in Teamfight Tactics as it provides the entire team with a Cleanse effect. This is an enormous advantage as it allows your carries to build full attack items without fear of being controlled and taken down early by opponents. However, as a starting augment, The Mystic Cloak does not provide players with any direct power and can easily lead to defeat.

Basically, at the start of the game, augments that provide strong combat capabilities such as boosting attack and defense stats should be prioritized. Therefore, when you choose The Mystic Cloak, which does not provide any stats, you are essentially handicapping yourself compared to other players. The advice here is to only pick The Mystic Cloak when your team composition is complete and has all the necessary carries, rather than as a starting augment.
VVIP
One of the biggest taboos when choosing a starting augment is to avoid picking ones that significantly shape your gameplay. The reason is that you can never know what composition you will play in future rounds and whether it will fit with your chosen augment. Many players have found themselves regretting their choice when they select an augment based on one composition, only to end up with a completely different team comp, and VVIP is one such augment.

Moreover, even if you can play an Elegant composition with VIP champions early on, the value it brings is not significant. This is because at levels 3 or 4, it is very difficult to upgrade 2-cost champions like Talon and Syndra to 2 stars or to acquire Leona (a 3-cost unit). Therefore, the health boost that VVIP provides is not substantial, making you susceptible to losing matches as your carries can be taken down too easily. Perhaps VVIP is better suited as a second or third augment rather than a starting one.
Professional Training
With the introduction of the Professional Training augment and elevating Vi to a 4-cost champion, Riot is truly looking to transform the Enforcer trait into a composition that can “carry the team” rather than just serve a support role. However, even if you want to play Enforcer champions in a carry role, the advice is to not pick the Professional Training augment first. The reason is that it has extremely low value at the start of the game and will only lead to a losing streak and health loss.

If you’ve played Caitlyn long enough, you’ll know that when this unit casts her spell, she almost always takes down her target with her high-range damage. Therefore, the Professional Training augment cannot activate the additional true damage effect on targets below 50% health on Caitlyn, who theoretically would benefit the most. Of course, this augment is very strong if you have Vi or Jayce as powerful champions in the late game, so it’s more suitable as a third augment rather than your first upgrade.
