There is a principle in every Autobattler game, including Teamfight Tactics, that champions with synergies that provide additional damage and health are incredibly strong. The reason is quite simple: they offer survivability, instant damage, and help your champions and composition become much stronger than your opponents. Even without strong abilities, the large amount of health and damage compensates for this disadvantage.

This is what makes Super Technology a consistently strong composition in Season 3, as this trait provides both health and damage, while other traits only provide one of the two stats. Therefore, Riot Games has continuously nerfed Super Technology in the first half of Season 3, yet this trait remains powerful and continues to dominate the current meta. In the latest update on the PBE server, not only Super Technology but also key units from Rebel and Sorcerer were nerfed, specifically:
Super Technology
Additional health at the 3-unit threshold reduced from 350 to 300.
Additional health at the 6-unit threshold reduced from 600 to 550.
Additional damage at the 6-unit threshold reduced from 75 to 70.

Star Guardian
Mana increase at the 9-unit threshold raised from 40 to 45.
Ashe
Stun duration of the skill changed from 2/2/4s to 2/3/4s.
Damage reduced from 250/300/700 to 200/300/600.
Jhin
Additional damage from the fourth shot increased from 244/344/4444% to 350/500/4444%.

Aurelion Sol
Energy absorption from the small spaceship reduced from 10/20/50 to 10/15/50.
Irelia
Additional damage from the skill increased from 175/250/500% to 225/250/500%.
Riven
Shield amount reduced from 225/375/1000 to 200/350/1000.

Fizz
Skill damage changed from 400/550/3000 to 400/550/4000.
Viktor
Second skill damage reduced from 250/400/1500 to 200/325/1500.
Janna
Additional attack speed from the skill reduced from 100/150/500% to 80/125/500%.

The update for Super Technology is primarily a “quick fix” because, essentially, Super Technology still vastly outperforms other traits in terms of basic stats like health and damage. If Riot Games truly wants to balance this trait, they should consider reworking its effects or the way stats are increased, similar to what was done with Shadow.

Regarding the other changes, we can easily see that Riot wants to buff the Marksman class, which has been completely fading after patch 10.13. Aurelion Sol’s continued nerf is also a move to balance the Rebel team, as this composition has been showing signs of returning to dominance. The targeting of Viktor, Janna, and Riven is also not surprising as these are key champions of the Sorcerer – Riven team that is currently dominating.
