If you pay attention, you’ll notice that there are quite a few champions dealing damage through “skill shots” that are extremely hot in Teamfight Tactics. Jhin, Ahri, Syndra… are typical champions in this regard as they can deal significant damage to stationary targets, gaining a huge advantage.

This has led some gamers to think of ways to counter skill shot abilities. Thus, the Mutant – Mech composition using Kha’Zix and Kai’Sa as main carries was born, as both champions have high mobility, excellent dodging skills, and can unleash powerful counterattacks. By using champions that aren’t overly contested, you can feel more secure during the team composition buildup.
For building the team, you’ll play just like an Innovator player in the early game by using Ezreal, Singed, and Zilean early on. Additionally, you should also utilize Camille and Kassadin at this stage as they are affordable, quality units with decent tankiness at 2-star level. Moreover, Kassadin also makes it easier to reach the 3 Mutant threshold later on.

Moving into the mid-game, you can drop Singed and replace him with Ekko to put more pressure on the opponent’s backline. You could even use Talon as a main carry at this stage as it equips Kha’Zix’s items very effectively. Additionally, you can also include some good Scholar units like Zyra, Syndra, and Renata at level 7 to supplement damage, restore energy, and hold items for Kai’Sa.

In the later stages of the match, you can choose between two styles: “spend gold” right away from level 8 to roll for Kai’Sa and Silco. If you’re doing really well, you might prefer to play it safe by saving gold and gradually leveling up to 9 to complete the composition with 5-cost units at 2-star. Additionally, you should also drop Ezreal at this stage to replace him with more versatile and stronger units like Seraphine or Jayce.

Regarding the technology cores, upgrades that increase level and gold are extremely essential for this composition as it requires many 5-cost champions. Cores like Natural Evolution, Divine Gift… are particularly suitable for this team composition. Additionally, the Signature Item core is also a strong option as it helps you obtain 5-cost champions more easily at level 9.
As for items, Kha’Zix primarily needs Infinity Edge and Bloodthirster to maximize damage and sustain. You can combine it with Cloak of Darkness or Quicksilver to help Kha’Zix deal damage more safely. For Kai’Sa, this unit can utilize most magical items, so you can equip her with any item as long as it starts from the Giant’s Staff.
