What is Jax “Rapunzel”?
In this famous fairy tale, Princess Rapunzel lives for many years in a tall tower, isolated from the outside world. The concept of the Jax “Rapunzel” playstyle is similar, looking to separate this unit from the formation. At that point, players will try to “imprison” this unit in the backline instead of placing Jax in the frontline.

The reason for this is that when placing Jax (or Zed) at the front with Lux’s EDM effect, they often do not attack the backline. Keeping Jax in the backline allows players to focus damage on eliminating the opponent’s key damage dealers as quickly as possible. If you have Illaoi, players can do this even more easily with her tentacles.
Building the Jax “Rapunzel” Composition
Although this technique uses Jax as the center, the main damage output actually comes from Lux. Therefore, players should pause buying experience at level 7 to upgrade Lux to 3 stars. In the early game, combining Annie (who can be a Star Guardian) with Fighter champions is the best way to maintain health.

Upon reaching level 7, TFT players need to apply the slowroll strategy to upgrade Lux to 3 stars. During this process, Zac and Zed are very desirable units to buy as they help activate high EDM thresholds, increasing the team’s damage. Additionally, players should aim for 4 Fighters to ensure durability.

Towards the end of the game, Illaoi will be a necessary addition that helps the Jax “Rapunzel” playstyle function better. In addition, Ziggs with his skill’s magic resistance reduction effect will significantly increase damage for the EDM team in the late game.

Items and Technology Core
With Lux being the primary damage source, players should assemble the Gemstone Gauntlet for this unit as soon as possible. The Archangel’s Staff is also a good item as it interacts very strongly with the tenacity of Fighter champions. As for the Technology Core, upgrades that provide many items or increase AP like Buried Treasure, Spellblade… are very suitable for this composition.
