Most champions in Teamfight Tactics gain substantial power when Sona “pumps mana” to spam skills continuously. Therefore, many compositions suddenly gain exceptional strength, rising to become the strongest compositions in the meta.
Below is a list of the strongest meta compositions when combined with “Mana Pumping Sona”:
Void Brawler Composition
Just like the regular Void Brawler composition, the Brawlers up front serve as a solid frontline for other carry champions. Meanwhile, at the back, Sona will pump mana for Vel’Koz and nearby champions to spam skills continuously. One of the unique points of Vel’Koz is that this champion requires very little mana to use skills, and since Sona can still pump mana while Vel’Koz is casting, he can deal damage continuously until he is defeated.
In the back, you can choose Twisted Fate to activate the Chrono Sorcerer, or if you want to add some crowd control, you should pick Xerath. If many enemy players lack the Blade of the Ruined King or Spy champions, you can add another Vel’Koz to “clear the map” faster as well.
This is currently the hottest composition in the meta when combined with Sona, as compared to 3-star Xayah, Candyland Poppy, Kayle Chrono or Brawler Cannoneer,… all cannot withstand the true damage of Void Vel’Koz.
Cosmic Pirate Composition
In the early game, you can temporarily use the Cannoneer + Red Buff Lucian combo to maintain health and earn gold with 2 Pirates. If you have some suitable items like Morello’s Tome or Zeke’s Herald that can be given to Kassadin early on. However, the most prioritized item to pick up is still the Chalice of Favor and the Archangel’s Staff for Sona.
As the game progresses, once you have Gangplank, you should gradually combine suitable items. Replace Lucian with Rumble to activate the Demolition if you don’t have a Demolition Bomb item for Jayce yet. You can also swap Lucian for Karma to increase Sona’s survivability. Since you will need a few rounds to collect items with 4 Pirates, this stage requires… calmness to assemble the right items for a late game victory; if you are low on health, only then should you assemble “temporary” items to survive.
Star Guardian Sorcerer Composition
As for the role of each champion in the team, it is as follows:
Sona remains the “mana pump” for the team to spam skills, Zoe and Lux will be the main crowd control champions (Zoe stuns for up to 4 seconds at 3 stars, Lux has a wide area stun of 2 seconds at 2 stars), Vel’Koz will burn health primarily with Morello’s Tome (if equipped with additional items, he can also become the main carry), Twisted Fate will be the main carry with each card throw dealing about 1600 damage (critical hit at 3 stars), and Soraka will heal the team and activate the Mystique for the whole team. The Vanguard frontline with Poppy serves as the main tank with items.
Because this composition is quite strong in skill spamming, if positioned correctly, Lux can continuously stun 4 to 5 enemy champions.
